For Immediate Release:
Eel Ground First Nation, NB March 04, 2008 – In response to growing concerns over safe water in Aboriginal communities, Abenaki Associates will unveil their new Safe Water Infrastructure Management System (SWIMS) software at the First Nation Water Symposium this month in Niagara Falls.
The new SWIMS software will allow First Nation Communities to track scheduled and overdue maintenance, monitor specific problems, produce work orders, as well as additional reports which help paint a clear, real-time, picture of a community’s water and sewage infrastructure on a day-to-day basis and assist in long term planning.
Percy Barnaby, president of Abenaki Associates, will be holding a hands on demonstration during the two day symposium being held at the Sheraton Fallsview Hotel and Convention Centre in Niagara Falls, March 18-19, 2008.
“We are extremely excited about the release of this software, and the positive response we have had from communities across the country is evidence that this type of software is long overdue,” explains Barnaby. “We encourage anyone who is concerned about the safety of their community’s water supply to drop by our booth and see the software in action.”
The second annual First Nation Water Symposium, coordinated by the Ontario First Nations Technical Services Corporation and the Aboriginal Water and Wastewater Association, will bring together First Nation leaders, health workers, engineers to meet, network, and examine the issues surrounding the safety of drinking water in Aboriginal communities
